DRB Match Industries, at The Beatrice, Camden
@echo_whiskey and I took one of our regular trips to London at the weekend, and decided to pay Camden a visit for a change. In part this was just to check out the place for the first time in years, in part to visit the legendary Robbo/Banksy spot near the lock, and to finish the day off seeing Dirty Rotten Bleeder’s show in the newly opened Beatrice art pub on Camden High Street.
The Beatrice opened on Thursday 8th August, launching with some fabulous artwork both inside and out. The side wall of the building is sporting pieces by 616 and Jimmy C, and the pub sign and front window have been beautifully taped up by Benjamin Murphy. Inside Camden’s newest art pub, the walls are adorned with a wonderful selection of pieces from Dirty Rotten Bleeder, for his solo show: DRB Match Industries.
Based around the theme of matchboxes and their associated imagery, there’s enough pieces around the pub to keep you joyfully distracted, amused and impressed, while you sip your pint. With pieces starting at just £35 for the superb hand-crafted balsa wood matchboxes (documented here (FB)), what’s not to like?
Show runs until 23rd August. Go go go!
